Over 100 Afghan refugees have been resettled in Alaska following their evacuation under Operation Allies Welcome. These individuals and families supported U.S. military operations and faced great risk if they remained in Afghanistan.
The Alaska Institute for Justice’s Immigration Justice Project is recruiting pro bono attorneys to represent a small group of Afghan nationals in their asylum applications with U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services.
At this session, AIJ staff will provide an overview of asylum law, the affirmative asylum process, the general context of the risks faced by evacuees in Afghanistan, and the timeline of the pro bono project.
**Earn 2 CLE Credits**
When: September 2, 2022 (friday), 10:00 AM-12:30 PM Where: BP Energy Center, 1014 Energy Ct., Anchorage AK
