Program Goals:
- Provide qualified language interpreters to government, business and service organizations to assist Alaskans with limited English proficiency.
- Train and certify language interpreters and translators.
- Maintain a central statewide registry of interpreters to connect with customers.
- Develop and implement a system for linking customers with qualified interpreters and translators.
- Offer training for groups and agencies on the roles, responsibilities and professional ethics of working with qualified interpreters.

Interpreter/Translator Candidates:
The Language Interpreter Center is recruiting interpreter candidates. We are developing a comprehensive training program to help candidates who pass our screening process learn the skills necessary to become qualified.
If you are interested in becoming an interpreter, please fill out the Registration Application (pdf file), and Self-Assessment Questionnaire and, include a resume and email, mail or fax it to the Language Interpreter Center.

Our Language Interpreter Center will work with the Alaska Court System, health care providers and social service agencies to develop a certification process and standards that will ensure quality interpretation and translation for our customers.
